Blender Cycles Renderer Testdrive

While comparing VRay RT, iray and Cycles I thought about showing a little video on the integration of Cycles in Blender. After waiting a couple of months I decided to give the Cycles renderer for Blender a shot again. Since I've built a new computer it was a nobrainer to give it a shot and see GPU rendering integrated in Blender.
It is amazing what is going on with Blender development these days, see yourself...

Since Brecht is back in Blender Institute he started developing Cycles to modernize shading and rendering in Blender. One goal is to go for a physical correct workflow. Shading will be node based and also provide other render enginge developers to use that system. You can switch from CPU to GPU for rendering.

The Cycles renderer is well integrated in Blender and makes it easy to also work with a realtime rendered viewport. To render the final image you can choose the amount of passes until the renderer stops. Cycles is well suited for animations and stills and also work with textures.

Be sure to give it a shot by downloading a Blender build with Cycles on graphicall.org
Select your Operating System, 32bit/64bit and search for Cycles, then have some serious fun in Blender :)
